New bike = Great idea?

Last week I bought a new Trek 7.0FX from Scheels and was in love with it. A fitness bike with thinner tires and great gearing that goes fast and is great to ride. I thought it was just perfect. I should have know something was wrong after I got it home and found it didn’t have a kick stand. I know they don’t come with one for some stupid reason other than to save 7 bucks. After getting my bike computer, cup holders, and a bag mounted to the bike I was set to go for some crazy rides.

Can the phone replace the computer?

Modern smart phones are getting to be more and more powerful every day. With the increase in processor speed, cheaper memory and increasing storage. One could conclude that a smart phone is on its way to replace the netbook or even the modern PC. For example, the Motorola Droid X has HDMI out, 720P video, Wi-Fi, GPS, and bluetooth. If a dock of some sort would be in place via the display port and bluetooth one would have a full fledged computer. No need to connect to Wi-Fi because the phone has its own 3G or 4G network connection.

Summing up trip to Chicago

Everybody needs to take a road trip with their friends to a major city. For my friends and I, we chose Chicago. Chicago has the third largest metropolitan population in the United States, and it shows. The drive across town is well over an hour on the interstate, and that was just to our hotel that was in the middle of town.
I am very happy we went. Tons of fun. Lots of walking to exercise the new ass I have grown from eating out to much. the 24 hours in the car between getting their and back was bearable. the girls slept. and Dirk did most of the driving.

Last Day in Chicago

Last Day in Chi

Today was the last day in the trip we tool to the windy city. I had a blast. Last night we went to The Blue Man Group at their theater. The show was to say the least amazing. they were very involved with the audience. A few people were pulled up on stage to participate. The effects when the paint was poured into the drums so when they hit them the spray pattern was illuminated by flashing lights. They used random pipes as instruments was very cool. I had seen shows online and on tv before and knew they did that, but it was good to see in person. they played a giant PVC pipe xylophone as a central instrument they all played in many parts. after a relatively calm taxi ride back to the hotel we re discovered how hard it was to find food in down town Chicago after 4PM, Their is no fast food or under $40 a plate places to eat anywhere. So we un valet car and drove to a Wendy's that was 12 miles away close to the inner city. The whole trip took less than a half hour!

Chicago after 2 days

Driving:
My trip to Chicago has been interesting since we first hit the road. The flooding in Fargo will more than likely take a toll on the train we were destined to ride on. At the last minute we canceled our trains and Dirk rented a van for us to start our adventure on. We left Fargo at 11:30 ish PM on monday. We left so late because i had to work, therefore we had to postpone our departure time. It worked out ok because we were unable to check in until after three.
We arrived at the hotel about three hours before checkin time, and beat the amtrak by well over 4 hours, this is after we stopped to rest. We talked to some strange people when we were at that rest stop. all of them headed to chicago, and sleeping somewhere in Wisconsin, so we were not alone.
The trip went overnight, Dirk is a champ and or robot who does not require sleep. The trip was eleven hours of driving, it was wild.
